Crimson Tree Publishing is proud to present a new release, Dating An Alien Popstar by Kendra L. Saunders.

Daisy Kirkwood has only just escaped her small-town life and run away to New York City, the land of last-minute secret gigs at famous musical venues, when she's kidnapped by aliens. Unfortunately, no one ever writes about how to handle alien abduction in those fancy NYC guidebooks.

Griffin and Dev are supermassively sexy aliens from a politically and environmentally troubled planet who arrive on Earth with very little knowledge about human ways other than what they learned from a wayward E! News signal. Their mission is to pretend to be the most influential people on the planet—English pop stars, of course!—and gain the help of a powerful secret society. Upon arriving, they abduct Daisy Kirkwood, a nerdy young woman who loves music but could seriously use a bit of help in the love-life department. Though Griffin and Daisy initially squabble, neither can deny the intergalactic sparks whenever they're too close to each other. Together, they must face murderous aliens, cultural misunderstandings, bad backup musicians, and the dark side of fame and the media, all set against a tight deadline…

Part High Fidelity, part Bridget Jones' Diary, part Doctor Who, Dating an Alien Pop Star is a sexy romantic comedy.

Sci-Fi Music Videos by Kendra L Saunders

One of the most inspirational forms of art, for me personally, is the music video. Once upon a long time ago, I even considered taking my writing passion and love for music and channeling it into making weird, artsy music videos. Ultimately, I decided to stick with the written word, but it doesn't mean I don't still draw ideas from music videos all the time!

My book, Dating an Alien Pop Star was inspired by a music video. So now, to celebrate the release of this sci-fi rom-com about a girl who is abducted by aliens and helps them pretend to be British pop stars, here is a list of some wonderfully cheesy sci-fi-esque music videos!

*Sing for Absolution- Muse https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ck6Hcg2cjk
The CGI looks pretty bad now, but the advertisements in space and the Planet of the Apes twist at the end make this one of my all time favorite music videos!

*Helena Beat- Foster the People https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABzh6hTYpb8
Starts off like Mad Max, then goes all Outer Limits/Something Wicked This Way Comes, with a disturbing twist at the end. So creepy. I love the almost Wes Anderson-esque color palette to it, too.

Pure vintage sci-fi cheesiness, complete with a giant robot and purposely bad special effects.

*Knights of Cydonia- Muse https://youtu.be/Q3Yc3HhSl1Q
Has there ever been such a great sci-fi epic music video? Maybe not. Cowboys, bar scenes, holographic Matt Bellamy screaming at the top of his lungs, a scantily dressed woman riding a unicorn... it doesn't get much better than this.

An ensemble cast of almost every cool girl on the planet. This music video should have been turned immediately into a mini series.

*Gonna Getcha Good!- Shania Twain https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3Pb3EJY5Qg
Another super cheesy sci-fi themed video, complete with ridiculous CGI. No idea what this video was supposed to mean, but I do remember loving it as a kid!

Perhaps my favorite music video ever. This was a huge inspiration starting point for Dating an Alien Pop Star. Bonus trivia- the masked alien girl grinding on Matt Bellamy is Kate Hudson!
